Paint Chip Mosaic Art
Scrambling for an art project before Friday? Well this one can be prepped for in a jiffy. All you’re going to need is some cardstock and a visit to the paint section.
Pick up paint chips in every colour of the rainbow. You only need 4-5 per project. The corresponding colours on each chip make it easy to create shading with adding light and dark parts to the mosaic.
You’ll also need 8.5″x11″ or 12″x12″ cardstock in white or light colours. And your students will need scissors and glue. Let’s get started!
How to Do It
Choose some shapes to give your students ideas of what to create. You shouldn’t need an outline to trace but looking at one gives an idea of how to put the mosaic together and the how many colours you’ll need.
Here’s some ideas to get you started:
1. Umbrella
2.Rainbow (even just 3 or 4 colours)
3. Hot Air Balloon
4. Banana
5. Pear
6. Apple
7. Carrot
8. Ice Cream
9. Butterfly
10. Whale
11. Sea Shell
12. Turtle
Choose your colours and begin chopping your paint chip apart. Cut triangles of every shape and size. Keep your colours separated and then start creating! Glue the pieces to the cardstock in the general shape you’re making. Add lighter and darker pieces to create a bit of a shaded look. There’s really no right or wrong way to do it so have fun!
